The Houston Cougars were a smashing success as new members of the Big 12 Conference. Houston arrived from the American Athletic Conference. In turn, the Cougars became the team to beat in the Big 12. But the Cougars are not all to follow with the College Basketball lines. Iowa State proved to be one of the best values on the board as a hidden gem. So too, did Baylor show a nice profit this season. BYU arrived as a new member and showed well with a profit. Meanwhile, the Big 12’s traditional power, Kansas, stepped back.

2024 Big 12 Tournament Team Overviews
The Big 12 Tournament could be the most wide-open of any postseason offering in March. Consider that several teams have a legitimate sportsbook shot at the championship.
Houston Cougars
Although Houston was ranked at or near the top of the nation they were in the red with the College basketball lines. Houston drew too much public attention, which dragged down its value. Late on, Houston covered only two of its previous nine games. Seven of Houston’s last nine games went over the total. Houston has the nation’s top-ranked scoring defense but an offense offset that ranked 160th for scoring. Namely, G LJ Cryer leads Houston with 15.5 points per game.
Iowa State Cyclones
Gamblers took a serious liking to Iowa State this season. Cause by the Cyclones lost only eight of 29 chances against the spread. Iowa State got the ash in nine of their last 12 outings. Also, ISU went under the total in seven of their last nine games. The strength of Iowa State is their 6th in the nation-ranked defense. G Keshon Gilbert leads Iowa State with 13.8 points per game.
Baylor Bears
Baylor was another moneymaker that gamblers were fond of this season. To show, the Bears lost only nine out of 28 games to the spread. Baylor covered five of its final seven games. Overall, Baylor ranked 25th for scoring offense out of 360 teams. The Bears score by committee, with six players averaging double digits. First among Baylor scorers is G Ja-Kobe Walter, with 14.7 points per game.
BYU Cougars
BYU covered 17 out of 29 games. Late on the Cougars paid in three of their most recent five games. BYU went over the total in nine of its last 13 games. BYU has a prolific offense that ranked 16th in the nation for scoring. G Jaxson Robinson averaged 13.9 points per game to pace the Cougars.
Kansas Jayhawks
It was an undeniably frustrating season for coach Bill Self and the Jayhawks. Kansas covered only 12 out of 29 games. Late on KU got the cash in only two of its previous seven outings. Kansas ranked 95th for scoring offense and 81st for points allowed. Those are good but nowhere near great metrics. C Hunter Dickinson, who transferred from Michigan, averaged 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Also in the red was Texas Tech, with 12 payouts in 29 games. The Red Raiders got the cash in only two of their last ten games. TTU went over the total 18 out of 29 games. G Pop Isaacs led Texas Tech with 15.8 points per game.
