Saturday College Basketball Betting – BYU at New Mexico on Versus

Saturday College Basketball Betting – BYU at New Mexico on VersusThe BYU Cougars and the nation’s leading scorer Jimmer Fredette are getting a lot of attention in college basketball betting.  They will be featured on the Versus television network on Saturday as they visit New Mexico.  You can bet on college basketball on this game and all the other exciting action at the Sbg sportsbook.

Cougars 20-1 SU, 8-9 ATS
BYU got a big win on Wednesday against San Diego State as the nation’s leading scorer Jimmer Fredette poured in 43 points in a 71-58 win.  The Cougars won what was considered the biggest game in Mountain West Conference history so there is definitely a chance for BYU to suffer a letdown on Saturday.  And one place you don’t want to have a letdown is at the Pit in New Mexico.  The Lobos are a very good team and they might actually be favored against the Cougars.

Lobos 14-7 SU, 8-9-1 ATS
New Mexico has struggled away from home but in the Pit they are still a very tough team to beat.  New Mexico will have a huge crowd on Saturday afternoon and they will be ready for the Cougars. Whether they have enough to slow down Fredette and the Cougars are questionable but the situation is definitely a good one for New Mexico.   The Lobos beat the Cougars the last time they played in a high scoring 83-81 win.  It may not be a good idea to run with the Cougars but that is probably what New Mexico will do. They are at home and the crowd will be a big factor.

Some people will look at BYU’s record and New Mexico’s record and automatically take the Cougars.  This is a brutally tough spot for BYU though after their huge win against San Diego State.  And don’t forget that New Mexico is 10-1 at home this season.  The Cougars may get the win but this one won’t be easy against a Lobo team that badly needs a signature win to get back into the NCAA Tournament picture.  The over might be a better bet in this game as the Cougars are one of the highest scoring teams in the country while New Mexico is very capable of putting up a big score at home.
