Two teams that have lost top players to injury meet in college basketball odds on Thursday as Memphis hosts Austin Peay.
The Tigers are favored in college basketball betting at Sbgglobal against Austin Peay but Memphis has been rotten against the spread this season.
Austin Peay Injury
The Governors lost Anthony Campbell for the season as he tore both the ACL and MCL in his left knee in practice. His loss is huge because he was the second leading scorer for Austin Peay at 13.9 points per game. Austin Peay head coach Dave Loos said that Josh Terry will move into the starting lineup. Terry is averaging 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds a game so perhaps Austin Peay can survive. He averaged 15.6 points in his first three starts this season. There is no question that more of the scoring load will now fall on Tyshwan Edmondson who leads the Governors in scoring 19.4 points a game. He is second in rebounds averaging 4.9 a game.
Memphis Injuries
The Tigers are in even worse shape than Austin Peay when it comes to injury. They will be down to nine scholarship players for this game on Thursday. Coach Josh Pastner said that sophomore forward D.J. Stephens will miss the game with a groin injury. Memphis hopes to have Stephens back for their game next week vs. Georgetown. Memphis is already without leading scorer Wesley Witherspoon for the next five weeks due to a right knee injury. And the team is without forward Angel Garcia who is off to Spain. Memphis had to take the redshirt off of freshman forward Hippolyte Tsafack.
