Duke and Gonzaga Lead March Madness Sleeper Candidates

Duke and Gonzaga Lead March Madness Sleeper Candidates

On the whole, the Gonzaga Bulldogs have had a profound transformation with the College Basketball odds. Last year Gonzaga was the preseason favorite to win the March Madness national championship. But the Zags couldn’t handle the intense spotlight of opponents and gamblers. Gonzaga bowed out meekly in the 2022 Big Dance. In comparison, the Bulldogs have been relatively ignored all season. And the Zags went on to win the West Coast Conference regular season and conference tournament titles. Since 2017, Gonzaga has made the national championship game twice and lost both times. Could the third time in 2023 be the charm?

Introducing the New Duke of Cameron

First year head coach Jon Scheyer stepped into some huge shoes at Duke this year. To illuminate, he replaced the legendary “Coach K,” Mike Krzyzewski. Scheyer had the sports betting advantage of playing and coaching for Coach K. Hence, he had a running start. Scheyer and the Blue Devils were lackluster out of the gate. But few teams played better basketball at season’s end. Duke won eight of its final nine games straight up.

Marquette Golden Eagles Fly High to Payout Window

The Marquette Golden Eagles are the best team nobody paid attention to in 2022-23. To show, Marquette won the Big East regular season championship going away. Second year head coach Shaka Smart is showing why he was once the hottest coaching property in college basketball. And Marquette is reminding fans they were once a national power program. Most important of all, Marquette kept gamblers smiling with a wide profit margin during this campaign.

The Eyes of Gamblers are Upon the Texas Longhorns

Second place in the Big 12 Conference regular season race is nothing to sneeze at. Especially considering the Big 12 was regarded as the best league in college basketball. For gamblers seeking an intangible NCAABB betting angle, the Longhorns bring a big one. Interim head coach Rodney Terry took over in December after head coach Chris Beard was put on leave and later fired. Terry inherited a team that was favored to make the Final Four. In turn, he confronted the challenge of replacing one of the most respected coaches in the game.

Terry led the Longhorns to an 18-7 record. Including 12-6 in the Big 12. Texas finished one game behind Kansas for the Big 12 title. As mentioned earlier, Texas was a national championship favorite with Chris Beard. Perhaps Terry can fulfill that mission as he gets the permanent title.

Connecticut Has the Metrics of a Champion

Consider that earlier this season, the UConn Huskies were ranked #1 in the nation. Connecticut faded under the spotlight and the brutal Big East Conference schedule. Yet coach Dan Hurley’s team is among the most balanced in college basketball. UConn plays a full court style conducive to a deep March Madness run.

Kentucky Is the Classic Beaten Favorite

At the onset of the season, the Kentucky Wildcats were a hot ticket on the national championship future market. Namely, Oscar Tshiebwe’s return sparked optimism for a big run. Instead, coach John Calipari is feeling the heat for another lackluster campaign. Since 2016, the Wildcats have not seen the Final Four. And their last few efforts were futile. But Kentucky is a college hoop blue blood with a dominant star in Tshiebwe. Previously, longer shots than Kentucky have made the Final Four. Sharps will love the more favorable price on the Wildcats.
