March Madness Betting Favors Kentucky vs. Cornell

March Madness betting in Sweet Sixteen action on Thursday favors top seed Kentucky as they take on Cornell. The Wildcats are now the favorite to win the NCAA Tournament in March Madness lines since Kansas was upset last week. March Madness betting lists Kentucky as an 8.5 point favorite against Cornell.  The Wildcats have not been tested so far in the NCAA Tournament as they crushed East Tennessee State and Wake Forest.  This game on Thursday will be an interesting matchup between the experience of Cornell and the youth of Kentucky.  The Wildcats are the least experienced team in the NCAA Tournament but probably the most talented.

Head coach John Calipari has been saying how inexperienced his team is. “Of our top eight,” said Calipari, “we have no NCAA experience.”  While the Wildcats don’t have experience they do have talent.  They could have five or six players that go in the first round of the NBA Draft.  John Wall is going to be the first pick in the NBA Draft while DeMarcus Cousins is not going to be far behind.  The Wildcats also have Eric Bledsoe who figures to go high in the draft along with Patrick Patterson. Even backup center Daniel Orton is projected as a first round pick. “I’ll tell you right now, Daniel will have options at the end of the year on what he wants to do,” Calipari said, “They’re looking at him saying, ‘this kid is really, really good.’ And he is.”

Cornell is not an average Ivy League team. They routed Cornell and Wisconsin in the first two rounds. They start four seniors and they can win in a variety of ways.  Will the experience of Cornell trump the youth and talent of Kentucky.  Those that bet on March Madness lines don’t think so since Kentucky is almost a double-digit favorite on Thursday.

The game between Cornell and Kentucky will be the late one on Thursday and it has the potential to be very interesting.  So far in this year’s tournament the youth of Kentucky has been dominating. Will that continue on Thursday in March Madness betting? Looking at the betting trends we see that Cornell is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Big Red are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games. Kentucky is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 NCAA Tournament games.
