March Madness Odds: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Orange of Syracuse. In what many consider an early tourney marquee matchup, the top seeded Orange of Syracuse face the number four Wisconsin Badgers tonight at TD Garden in Boston. The game can be seen on most local CBS affilates with a scheduled start of 7:15ET. This marks the third time in the past four years the Orange play on into the sweet sixteen.
The loss of Fab Melo may loom large in this one for Syracuse. They are coming off a nice 75-59 victory against a talented group from Kansas State. They shot 66.7 percent from the field during the second half. Their bench out scored the Wildcats 33-0. We will see if Christmas came early for Syracuse, but freshman Rakeem Christmas did have a career high 11 rebounds and added 8 points in this one. Seniors Scoop Jardine and Kris Joseph combined for 27. Start your March Madness Betting action for the Wisconsin Badgers vs. Orange of Syracuse game.
Wisconsin’s 60-57 defeat of fifth seeded Vanderbilt was even more impressive. Vandy was appearing in its second straight sweet sixteen with many of their group returning for the encore. This one was all about the defense, as the Badgers held the Commodores to 43.5 percent shooting and scored 19 points off 12 turnovers. Senior Jordan Taylor led the way for Wisconsin with 14 points.
Once again, tonight should be decided by defense. Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan will once again attempt to hold Syracuse in check with a stifling one on one defensive scheme. Jim Boeheim on the other hand will most likely have the Orange playing a 2-3 zone. The zone has worked well for them this year, averaging 9.4 steals a game. Then they turn defense into offense, scoring 74.5 points per event. Wisconsin is scoring at a rate of 64 points per contest.
