Penn State Nittany Lions
Three-year starting quarterback Trace McSorley is gone. However highly rated recruiting classes to remain. Talent will not be a Betting on College Football problem in Happy Valley. Redshirt sophomore Sean Clifford is McSorley’s likely replacement. Due to KJ Hamler’s 42 receptions, 18 yards per catch and five touchdowns is he the top target. Offensively the backs and receivers are skilled by inexperienced. By contrast, the defense is much more experienced. Penn State led the nation in sacks last year. If the offense can quickly get into gear this will be a dangerous team.
Auburn Tigers
At the onset of the season head coach Gus Malzahn has resumed play-calling duties. Malzahn picked apart Purdue in a 63-14 sportsbook bowl payout to end 2018 on a high note. Defensively the Tigers could have one of their most talented units in years. In like manner War Eagle will lean on that defense until a new starting quarterback fits in. Malzahn’s pick and tutelage of a new quarterback will tell the tale. Similarly, to Penn State, the defense has to carry the load early.
Wisconsin Badgers
Last year Wisconsin proved to be one of the worst overlays for Betting on College Football. Fashion the Badgers were touted as a playoff team but finished 8-5. Heisman Trophy candidate Jonathan Taylor has rushed for over 1900 yards the past two seasons. From there a young and hungry group of hard workers is ready to atone for 2018. The key to a UW comeback will be at quarterback. Former starter Alex Hornibrook is gone after a mistake and injury-plagued 2018 season. In particular, Wisconsin is always best under the radar which is where they start the new season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Certainly, few programs got more positive offseason hype than Nebraska. But that was more in terms of making the Big Ten championship game than winning the national title. Namely sophomore quarterback Adrian Martinez is a Heisman Trophy contender. Martinez rapidly improved as a raw freshman starter and is a great leader. Overall, he compiled a 139.5 passer rating and 17/8 touchdown to interception ratio. Of major concern is a defense that must make rapid strides.
Florida Gators
Dan Mullen’s first season as head coach was a successful 10-3 record. Following that is expectations for a national championship run in the near future. Moreover, Mullen did phenomenal work with quarterback Feleipe Franks. To show Franks threw for a 143.3 rating with 24 touchdown passes. Todd Grantham arrives to tighten up the defense. In short, the weaker SEC East Division makes for a more possible postseason path.
