Wisconsin is consistently one of the most underrated college football programs. Since 2005 the Badgers produced ten-10-win seasons. And since 1993, the Badgers finished in the final national rankings 17 times. When Barry Alvarez took over the program in 1990, Wisconsin was a coaching graveyard. And one of the worst programs in the country. Now they are one of the top go-to programs for NCAA Football betting. Gamblers find the Badgers consistent and sound. Nothing seems to rattle Wisconsin.

2021 Wisconsin Badgers Team Overview
In 1990 Barry Alvarez inherited a program the last finished ranked in 1962. He was said to be a fool for taking the job. Especially when he was touted for several “better” jobs. But Alvarez had a vision and stuck with it. His offshore betting blueprint is big strong Wisconsin kids on the interior lines. And then speed and skill from out of state
Now Wisconsin is a regular in the national championship conversation. But Alvarez has retired after serving as athletic director from 2007-2020. Fortunately, head coach Paul Chryst remains. Paul Chryst could be the most perfect fit in all of college football. First, Chryst is a native of Madison, Wisconsin, home of the Badgers. Second, he played quarterback for UW. Later he was a Badgers assistant and offensive coordinator.
Coach Paul Chryst
As head coach of the Pitt Panthers, Paul Chryst was a .500 coach. At Wisconsin, Chryst is 56-19 with two West Division championships. Further, Chryst produced two top ten final rankings. Also were Rose, Cotton, and Orange Bowl berths. Additionally, Chryst led UW to a bowl berth every season he’s been on the job. Wisconsin won five out of those six bowl matchups.
Although Chryst fully understands that Wisconsin is a developmental program, he doesn’t settle. Chryst has parlayed Wisconsin’s success to haul in the highest-ranked recruiting classes in program history.
One of the unique characteristics of the Wisconsin program is its appealing culture. In 2021, several juniors and seniors passed up certain NFL careers for one more season in Madison.
Quarterback Graham Mertz had a perfect debut as the Wisconsin starter on national TV. Namely, Patrick Mahomes tweeted praise for the stellar star in the making. But that debut raised the bar of expectations to an unreasonable level. Mertz struggled for much of the rest of the season. The big problem was that Mertz did not have Heisman candidate Jonathan Taylor in the backfield. Wisconsin did not find a running back to replace Taylor. Thus, the offense suffered. Jalen Berger is expected to become that workhorse tailback in the Wisconsin tradition for 2021.
Defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard is ranked as one of the very best in the country. His experienced unit will be a key asset in Wisconsin’s attempt to make the Big Ten championship game.
