2024 Missouri Tigers Face Increased Future Market Expectations

2024 Missouri Tigers Face Increased Future Market Expectations

Now in his fifth year, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz had the breakout season he needed in 2023. The Missouri Tigers finished with a College Football Betting record of 11-2 and a final national ranking of 8th. The Tigers capped off the campaign with a Cotton Bowl win over Ohio State. It does not get much better than that for Ol’ Mizzou. This year, the Tigers will not have the benefit of ambushing teams. Concurrently, gamblers are asking if Missouri can handle the increased expectations for 2024.

2024 Missouri Tigers Preview

Missouri is a veteran online wagering team. The Tigers will need to find depth answers on defense. In a similar way to 2023, Mizzou must eke out a few tight wins. But the schedule is as friendly as it will ever be. Hence, you have to like your odds in any game when you have Luther Burden III, and your opponent does not. Also, with quarterback Brady Cook returning, Missouri’s offense can lead the way until the defense finds its footing after significant offseason turnover.

With a high-powered offense and a talented defense potentially in place, the Tigers have the pieces to make a run at a CFB Playoff spot. Last year, Missouri enjoyed its best season since 2014, going 11-2 and finishing eighth in the AP poll. Coordinator Kirby Moore’s offense played a big part in that surge. To show, the Tigers leaped from 86th in points per game to the top 30. Most important of all, there are many reasons for the College Football Betting improvement.

Last season, quarterback Brady Cook threw for 3,317 yards last fall. Now he gets nearly all of his receiving corps back. Including veterans Theo Wease Jr. and Mookie Cooper and tight end Brett Norfleet, a late-season star as a freshman. Still, we’re primarily talking about former blue-chipper and potential All-American Luther Burden III. To illuminate, Burden went for 1,212 receiving yards as a sophomore. He’s back for a third season in Columbia.

The run game does need a new marquee man. Cody Schrader, the Division II transfer-turned-SEC leading rusher, is off to the pro. Meanwhile, two of his blockers, including All-SEC left tackle Javon Foster, are gone. Head coach Eliah Drinkwitz will ask transfers Marcus Carroll (Georgia State) and Nate Noel (Appalachian State) to carry quite a bit of the load. Still, the passing game means this offense’s ceiling is still awfully high.

In 2023, Eli Drinkwitz led the first Top Ten finish since Pinkel’s 2013 Mizzou team. Drinkwitz was facing a do-or-die season in his fourth year and delivered one of the best campaigns in Mizzou history.
