Thus, College Football Betting expectations are as high as they’ve ever been in Oxford. This team is talented, well-coached and battle-tested. Certainly, the Rebels have the makings of an SEC contender.
The defending Peach Bowl champions received a major boost on New Year’s Day. To illuminate, quarterback Jaxson Dart announced he would be returning to Oxford for his senior season. The USC transfer has been the Rebels’ starter for the last two seasons. Overall, he was among the most efficient passers in the country in 2023. Also, the Rebels added former All-SEC receiver Antwane Wells Jr. from South Carolina. All-SEC running back Quinshon Judkins transferred to Ohio State, leaving Ulysses Bentley IV (540 yards, four scores in ’23) as the leading returning rusher.
Following a 52-17 loss at Georgia, Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin acknowledged that his team needed to get bigger and stronger, particularly up front. Previously, David Cutcliffe, Houston Nutt, and Hugh Freeze all had some success leading the Ole Miss program. Lane Kiffin is now on pace to become one of the Ole Miss greats. Perhaps, he may challenge John Vaught as the GOAT of Ole Miss football coaches.
