Alabama Crimson Tide Team Preview and Road to the CFP

With 18 national championships in their history, the Alabama Crimson Tide has an unmatched record.  The Honor Roll of Alabama greats is a who’s who of college football.  On the whole, the Crimson Tide ranks as the most accomplished program ever with the College Football odds. The biggest name in the game’s history is Paul “Bear” Bryant.  As Alabama head coach, Bryant won six national titles and 14 SEC championships.  But it was Bryant’s style that was as important as his results.  Raw masculinity and a deep southern drawl made him larger than life.

Alabama Crimson Tide SBG Odds Overview

It should be no surprise that Alabama is the biggest brand on the online wagering board.  Consider those casual gamblers and those who don’t follow college football know about the Crimson Tide.  Nearly all of the square money will flood in on Alabama on Monday Night.  Yet the Crimson Tide continues to show profits on the board almost every year.  This reliable wagering value is a testament to the program standards established by Nick Saban.

Head Coach Nick Saban – The GOAT of College Football

To be exact, many fans and gamblers forget that Alabama was not always a national power with the College Football odds.  In 2007 Saban walked into a program that was 6-7 the season before he arrived.  Alabama finished in the national rankings only three times from 1997 through 2006.  But with a demand for a total investment by the university coupled with annual top-ranked recruiting classes, Saban turned the Tide.

Saban has seven national championships, with six of them coming at Alabama.  Further, Saban has eight SEC titles with Alabama and has won the West Division 11 times in T-Town.  Most important of all, Saban has done the impossible.  He has surpassed Bear Bryant in the minds of the Alabama faithful as the GOAT of coaches.  That is no small feat considering Bryant remains a revered figure in the state to this very day.

Adapt or Die

On the whole, no college football coach has matched Saban’s ability to adjust and adapt.  When Saban arrived at Alabama, he was a power-running and play-action passing type of coach.  Yet Saban saw the direction that the game was going.  Instead of digging in his heels, he developed a sophisticated offense to match the times.  The same holds true with the current issues of NIL and the transfer portal.  While many coaches complain, Saban plots and schemes.

And then there is recruiting.  Alabama players DeVonta Smith and Bryce Young won the Heisman Trophy for the past two years.  Under Saban, a total of four Alabama players have hoisted the Heisman Trophy.

Saban warns players what they are in for during the recruiting process.  He clarifies that it will not be easy and that they will be pushed beyond the limit.  Yet the top players from all over the country flock to play for Saban.  Accordingly, these recruits know that they will play for national championships and a shot at the NFL.
