Initial look into College Football 2018

Thursday and Friday will feature night games to wet everyone’s appetite for Saturday, September 1.  The first full Saturday is a bonanza for college football betting odds.  Immediately catching the eye is Florida Atlantic at Oklahoma.  FAU is a 21 point dog.  OU is a favorite to make the college football playoff.  But the Sooners will be facing a wild card.  Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin is making his mark.  The Owls have stepped up recruiting.  And have one of the most dynamic offenses in the country.  Defense has been an Oklahoma weakness. FAU +21 looks inviting.

Nebraska vs. Akron

The Scott Frost era at Nebraska begins at home vs. Akron.  The favorite son Frost is tasked with returning the Big Red to national prominence.  And National Championship Glory.  Akron will enter Memorial Stadium as a 21 point dog.  The Zips are not without ability.  They even made a bowl game last year.  Also problematic is that the much of the sports betting public will be on NU.  Akron would make for a strong contrarian consideration.  But Nebraska already believes that Frost will quickly fix the Big Red.  Training prep shows Cornhusker players are All In!

Texas

Texas has an interesting matchup at Maryland.  The Longhorns are 10 point road favorites.  And seeking revenge for a home loss to the Terrapins in the opening game last year.  Maryland is showing improvement.  Texas is yet to return to its level of dominance from a decade ago.  Maryland may be a live home dog.

Auburn vs. Washington

One of the biggest matchups of the first Saturday is Auburn and Washington.  The game will take place in Atlanta.  Auburn opened as a small 2 ½ point favorite.  They will certainly have the majority of fans.  But Washington is back as a legitimate national power.  And top Pac 12 Conference title contender.  Auburn had a very bad ending to its season last year.  First they lost the SEC title game in an upset to Georgia.  And they were outcoached and outplayed in their bowl game.  Central Florida took them apart in a big upset.  Coach Gus Malzahn enters the season with a very hot seat.

Matchup to Watch

Sunday night, September 2 offers an interesting matchup.  Miami is a three-point college football betting odds chalk against LSU.  Miami is resurgent with head coach Mark Richt.  LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is facing increased doubts.  A loss here puts Orgeron on the hot seat with an entire schedule to go.
