The Auburn Tigers better be plenty thick-skinned when they face NCAA online betting juggernauts the Clemson Tigers. “I’ve heard it’s very hostile,” wide receiver Ryan Davis told AuburnTigers.com. “The crowd is very rowdy. Coming down the hill, they get real excited about it. I’ve never been it [sic] before, so this is going to be my first time for me as well.” None, for that matter, Auburn having last visited Clemson in 2011, of the current players, have had that experience.

A subdued Auburn burned through the Georgia Southern Eagles 41-7 on Saturday. Running backs Kam Martin and Kerryon Johnson were suspended and injured, respectively, and Kyle Davis was suspended as well. Furthermore, starting quarterback Jarrett Stidham’s performance was that of someone who hadn’t played in more than 600 days, which he was, and which he hadn’t. All the aforementioned players, suspended and injured alike, as well as Stidham’s former self, are expected to show up this Saturday. There is plenty to be confident about here, as confident as Barrett Sallee of CBS Sports.

ESPN writers Sam Khan disagrees, though. “I’m so tempted to pick Auburn because of Kamryn Pettway coming back from suspension,” he said. “But ultimately, with Kerryon Johnson a question mark to play, I don’t know if I can take the risk, especially on the road.” Auburn leads the all-time series versus Clemson 34-14-2 but has lost the last three meetings between the two schools. Even if they lose, though, Auburn has the defensive wherewithal to remain within the five-point NCAA online betting spread, which they have covered in five of their last seven road games but only two of their last six versus Clemson.
“Clemson Athletics officials continue to monitor the situation around Hurricane Irma,” a statement released by Clemson reads. “At this time, we have no changes to previously announced schedules – kickoff time remains at 7 p.m.” The Tigers, Clemson’s, that its, not Auburn’s moved up from the No. 5 to the No. 3 spot in the AP Poll following a 56-3 massacring of Kent State, which, linebacker Kendall Joseph said, “was not our truest test.” The junior believes Clemson is ready to go big. “It’s what we come to college for,” Joseph added. “We don’t come to play low ranked teams.” Go figure. And here we were thinking the primary reason to attend a higher learning institution was to get an education. Moving on, Clemson has enough firepower, including new starting QB Kelly Bryant, to cover the spread, which they have done in four of their last five overall games as well as four of their last five at home.
And given that both Clemson and Auburn beat their week 1 opponents by a combine margin of 93 points, one can easily picture them going over the 53½ NCAA online betting total.
