Florida Gators

Florida has a betting on college football record of 3-1 both straight up and against the spread.  Correlate their 2-2 mark on over under odds this year.  Balanced against the optimism of Mullen’s arrival at Florida was a week two debacle.  Kentucky upset the Gators 27-16 which set off panic in Gainesville.  However, in week four UF scored a 47-21 payout at Tennessee.  In fact, a lot of faith has now been restored.  Despite the fact Florida is coming off their best game much remains to be done.  Florida ranks 92nd nationally for total offense.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

Mississippi State has an offshore betting mark of 3-1 both straight up and against the spread.  And just one of their games has gone over the total.  New head coach Joe Moorhead got his first taste of defeat.  Certainly, the Bulldogs were outplayed in week four.  To illustrate they were outgained 300-201 by Kentucky.  MSU also suffered an 18-11 first down deficit.  Despite the loss Mississippi State still has impressive metrics.  To show the Bulldogs rank 25th nationally for total offense and seventh for total defense.  But senior quarterback Nick Fitzgerald has struggled with a 51% completion rate.

Stats to Consider

Florida has been a terrible wagering value as a road dog recently.  As an example, the Gators are 1-5 vs. the line in that role.  Three of their last four as road pups went under the total.  Balanced against that is Mississippi State’s good marks as home chalks.  To show the Bulldogs are 5-2 vs. the spread in their last seven laying the lumber at home.  Four of their last six in that situation have stayed under the number.

Team vs Team

Consider the dominance of Mississippi State in this head to head series.  To illuminate the Gators have paid in just one of their last six against Hail State.  Additionally, just one of the last five meetings between these teams went over the total.  Furthermore, at Davis Wade Stadium MSU has paid in three straight against Florida.  None of those three matchups stayed under the total.

Matchup to Watch

To begin with much will be made of Dan Mullen’s return home.  Counter to that is the fact that Mullen left behind a better team at Mississippi State.  As mentioned earlier the betting on college football trends all point to the Bulldogs.  It follows that they may have been peaking ahead last week.

Florida vs. Mississippi State Betting on College Football Picks

In sum Mississippi State should bounce back with a big win against their old coach.  By contrast they are also the deeper and more capable team.
