College Football Betting Odds – Va. Tech at NC State

College football betting odds handicappers will have a most intriguing ACC matchup to look over with resurgent Virginia Tech at upstart NC State. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 3:35 PM Eastern and the game will be telecast by ABC.  Sbg global sportsbook opened with Virginia Tech as a 4 point road favorite and with an over/under of 54.5

Two Surprise Teams
Virginia Tech began this season ranked in the top ten but was upended by Boise State on opening night 33-30 and then was stunned in a 21-16 loss to 1-AA James Madison.  The Hokies have since recovered and are 2-2 both straight up and against the spread.  The North Carolina State Wolfpack was not expected to contend for the ACC title but they have confounded the experts with a start of 4-0 both straight up and against the spread.  The Wolfpack program is finally reflecting its 4th year head coach Tom O’Brien.

Hokie Pokey Back into Race
Virginia Tech has won its last two games including its Atlantic Coast Conference opener last week at Boston College and they were 19-0 as 3.5 point favorites.  The Hokies defense is coming alive as it suffocated the Boston College passing attack and forced 3 turnovers.  On offense the strength of the Hokies is the running game as quarterback Tyrod Taylor leads the team in rushing but David Wilson and Darren Evans are big contributors as well and all three players are over 4.3 yards per carry.  Although Taylor is an erratic passer he does have 9.9 yards per attempt average.

Statement Maker
North Carolina State left no doubt that they are for real and intend to contend for the ACC title.  Last week the Wolfpack took apart defending ACC champion Georgia Tech 45-28 as 8 point road dogs in a clear case of the wrong team being favored with the college football lines.  Quarterback Russell Wilson is quickly making a name for himself as he has completed 60% of his passes for 1112 yards and a phenomenal 11/1 touchdown/interception ratio.  Running backs Mustafa Greene and Dean Haynes are both averaging 4.6 yards per carry.

By the Numbers
The Hokies are a dangerous road team with 23 payouts in their last 32 games.  NC State has gone over the total in 10 out of their last 11 ACC games.
