Vanderbilt lost 23-21 last week to Northwestern but they covered the spread. They nearly won the game but they couldn’t make a two-point conversion try. The Commodores had 400 yards of total offense and their defense was solid. Quarterback Larry Smith was 19 of 30 for 240 yards and a touchdown and he rushed for 48 yards. Smith played poorly last year against LSU as he threw for only 88 yards.
