Oregon Wins Simulation
Many people are familiar with EA Sports and their games.  They simulated the National Championship game and the Ducks came out with a 45-41 victory. The game was tied 24-24 at the half and Oregon scored late to win it. In the simulation it was LaMichael James running for almost 200 yards while Cam Newton had four TDs.

Offensive Shootout
Oregon averaged 49.3 points per game to lead the nation while Auburn was not far behind at 42.7 points per game.  Auburn has Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton while Oregon has the nation’s leading rusher LaMichael James.  South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier said he would not be surprised to see a 60-55 type of game. The Ducks will have to find a way to contain Newton while Auburn will have to slow down Oregon. The Ducks had 24 TD scoring drives that took a minute or less this season.

SEC Domination
The SEC has won the last four national titles.  Auburn will be the fourth different SEC school to play for the national title in the last five years.  Not every SEC has won BCS bowl games though as Arkansas was beaten in Tuesday’s Sugar Bowl by Ohio State.

The Other Quarterback
Much of the attention in this game is going to be on Newton and James but Oregon’s quarterback Darron Thomas should not be ignored.  He is having a fantastic season. He threw for 2,500 yards this season and while he is not in the class of Newton as a runner he is still very good.

Defenses
Neither team is that great on defense but the Ducks were 12th in the country in fewest points allowed so they are capable of slowing down Auburn. On the other side, the Tigers were just 54th on defense in points allowed. If the offenses trade points with each other then whichever defense makes a key stop will win this game against the college football odds and based on the numbers that team will be Oregon.
