College Football Betting – 2007 Duke Blue Devils Preview

It is hard to find much positive to say about Duke. At least for college football betting fans they went 5-6 against the spread in 2006. Overall they were 0-12. NCAA football betting players should know that all of the offensive starters return but that may not be good news. The defense is still not going to be that great but at least there is hope for football betting fans of the Blue Devils. NCAA football betting fans know that Duke has a 20-game losing streak heading into the new season. Overall Duke head coach Ted Roof welcomes 16 starters back from a year ago but college football betting players will still go against the Blue Devils.

Duke went 0-12 SU, 5-6 ATS in 2006 and 1-10 SU, 2-8 ATS in 2005 for NCAA football betting players. Duke averaged just 283 total yards of offense, 15 ppg, while allowing a ton of yards and points as NCAA college football betting fans watched. The defense allowed 33.8 PPG last season, ranking them 114th nationally. Peter Vaas, a former head coach in NFL Europe who spent the last two seasons at Notre Dame, has been added to the Duke Football staff and will run the offense. Sophomore QB Thaddeus Lewis wasn’t that bad as a freshman, with 11 TDs, 16 INTs and 2,134 yards and provided a few football betting covers. In the finale, Duke lost 45-44 to North Carolina as Lewis was 20-of-35 for 285 yards, 4 TDs and 2 picks in the college football betting pointspread cover. Everyone returns on offense led by senior WR Jomar Wright so a few more backdoor covers could be expected for NCAA football betting fans in 2007.

The Duke defense has 5 returning starters but considering they were horrible on defense that may not matter to college football betting fans. Football betting players wonder whether Duke actually win a game this season? They open at home against UConn, head to Northwestern Sept. 15, and then they are at North Carolina at the end of the year for the football betting finale. All of the other games are almost certain losses and realistically the games against Connecticut, Northwestern and North Carolina are probably losses as well. College football betting fans know that Duke has a 9-71 record over the past seven years. Ted Roof has been head coach for four years, posting a 5- 34 record.

With the entire starting offense returning, Duke should average more than 14.9 PPG but the defense is probably not much better so college football betting fans still may not want to be Duke very often. They may not win a game all year which would really extend their streak of futility as college football betting fans watch.
