Spring football is underway for numerous college football programs. And the offseason news is relentless. Once upon a time, College Football Betting went dark in the spring and summer months. Now, the sport is an endless news cycle. And that has translated into increased future market action. But for all of college football’s changes, some things remain the same. Specifically, the power programs remain largely the same. To show, historic bluebloods Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas top the board as favorites for the 2024 national championship.

Georgia Bulldogs +330
First among the online betting choices for the national championship is Georgia. Gamblers have plenty of solid reasons for banking on the Bulldogs. Starting with head coach Kirby Smart being a recruiting machine. Smart’s most recent two recruiting classes ranked number one in the nation. Since 2017, Georgia ranked in the Top 3 in every recruiting cycle. Now that Nick Saban has retired, the SEC is owned by Georgia until proven otherwise.
Ohio State Buckeyes +450
The biggest obstacle for the Ohio State Buckeyes has been removed. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has taken his talents to Los Angeles and the NFL Chargers. Thus, Ohio State is the presumptive chalk in the Big Ten. But that adds to the pressure for head coach Ryan Day. Day was under fire for three consecutive losses to Michigan and Harbaugh. Thus, if Ohio State loses to the Maize and Blue this year, it could be a dark day for Ryan.
Of course, Ohio State is the most talented team in the Big Ten. And the addition of Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator should be a significant asset. Ohio State and Kelly must sort out the QB room. To illuminate, Kansas State transfer Will Howard is the presumptive starter.
Texas Longhorns +750
Following a 2023 playoff season, head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns are getting plenty of love. Of major concern is that Texas is moving from the Big 12 Conference to the SEC in 2024. Last year, Texas won at Alabama for a landmark victory. The Longhorns will be a massive favorite to go far in the College Football Playoff.
Oregon Ducks +1000
Last year, the Oregon Ducks were a near miss for the College Football Playoff. Cause of their inability to beat the Washington Huskies. But Washington has been decimated with a coaching change and the loss of key personnel. Thus, the door is open for Oregon as it transitions to the Big Ten Conference. Head coach Dan Lanning is distinguishing himself as one of the best young leaders in the game. And Lanning is a recruiting machine. Oregon is in a position to be an elite program for years to come.
Alabama Crimson Tide +1400
Despite the retirement of head coach Nick Saban, the Crimson Tide remains a massive College Football Betting brand. Certainly, Kalen DeBoer is an astute choice as Saban’s replacement. But there is likely to be a painful transition after the retirement of the GOAT. DeBoer should eventually win at high levels, but nobody will match Saban’s records. And this looks like a year of transition.
Deion Sanders on the impact of Nick Saban's retirement:
"He is so powerful and so strong that he's affected 3 programs."
