Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets vs. Georgia Bulldogs Betting Preview (11/29/2024)

At the beginning, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened the season with an upset win in Ireland against the Florida State Seminoles. The win gave them an immediate shot in the arm for a season that will end with a bowl berth for the second consecutive year. Now comes the annual “Clean Old-Fashioned Hate” rivalry matchup against the Georgia Bulldogs. Head coach Kirby Smart and his program may not be as dominant as in the past. But they are in the SEC championship game. Still, the vastly improved Ramblin’ Wreck will be a potential College Football odds trap.

The victory was the Dawgs’ 30th in a row in Sanford Stadium. Correlate that is one shy of tying the SEC record for consecutive wins at home. Carson Beck was far and away, the shining light for the Bulldogs. The Georgia quarterback threw for four touchdown passes, each to a different receiver, in the first half alone. In turn he finished the day with 297 yards and four touchdowns. While the level of today’s opponent certainly matters, Beck’s performance is an excellent sign.

On the other hand, the Georgia defense was far from perfect today. Missed tackles, poor run fits, and an inability to get off the field on third down plagued the Bulldogs’ defense for much of the game, allowing the Minutemen to sustain a handful of lengthy drives that resulted in points.

For as much criticism that has been thrown Beck’s way this season, the Bulldogs’ quarterback’s last two performances have been nothing short of stellar. In sum, Beck finished the game with just shy of 300 yards and four passing touchdowns to four separate receivers. All four of his touchdowns were thrown in the first half. While two games at home is a small sample in comparison to an entire season, Beck’s performance can be an excellent tell.
