Indeed, head coach Dave Doeren has brought much-needed stability to the North Carolina State Wolfpack program. What Doeren has not brought is a long-sought conference championship. Doeren’s College Football Betting reign has been rock-solid and steady as the coach. NC State has gone to bowl games in seven of the past nine seasons. Also, they have only two losing seasons since Doeren took over in 2013. Yet there is a sense of unfulfillment among Wolfpack fans. And perhaps with Doeren himself. 2023 NC State Wolfpack Preview
To some college football observers, Doeren has been good enough not to get fired. But not great enough for a serious sports betting breakthrough. Not much is expected to change at NC State for the 2023 campaign. NC State has won at least eight games in five of the last six seasons. Thus, the Wolfpack could be a sleeper team to watch in the ACC for ’23 if the offense progresses.
New coordinator Robert Anae arrives after successful College Football Betting stints at Syracuse and Virginia. At the same time, former UVA signal-caller Brennan Armstrong left Charlottesville to play under his former coach. The combination of Anae and Armstrong should jumpstart NC State’s offense. Meanwhile, the defense should be among the best in the ACC, thanks to six returning starters.
The 2023 NC State schedule is not all that bad. It is true that NC State must play Clemson. But that’s a home game coming off a midseason bye. Also, NC State has to deal with Notre Dame in the ACC’s partnership with the independent school, but that’s at home, too. However, avoiding Boston College, Georgia Tech, and Syracuse is not advantageous. Cause by those three is more than beatable this season by this Wolfpack team. On the other hand, not having to deal with Florida State is massive. And not playing Pitt is a huge help.
Meanwhile, the road schedule sets up perfectly. There are five games away from Raleigh. But North Carolina has to make the trip over. So too, Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and Notre Dame. Going to UConn isn’t anything to worry about. Virginia and Virginia Tech will be better, but they failed to go bowling last year. Duke is dangerous, but it’s still Duke, not a true power program. Of course, going to Wake Forest is dangerous, but, like Duke, it’s Wake Forest.
If NC State takes care of business at home, a 10-2 season is possible. Of course, the Wolfpack won’t beat Notre Dame, Clemson, Miami, and Florida State. But it can win at least two.
