Week 3 in NCAA betting did not have as many high profile games as in Week 2 but there were some exciting finishes including Michigan State’s win in overtime against Notre Dame. There were also some big routs including #1 Alabama rolling over Duke against the college football betting point spread. NC State began the week by covering Thursday’s ESPN game as they routed Cincinnati. Friday’s games saw Southern Miss and Nevada win and cover easily. Saturday’s games began with an exciting contest between Arkansas and Georgia and although the Razorbacks blew a big lead they got the game winning TD late to win and cover.
Alabama and Ohio State Roll – The top two teams in the country covered again in Week 3. Ohio State dominated Ohio while Alabama humiliated Duke. There is no question that the top two teams are in the polls and it isn’t even close. Boise did get a big win against Wyoming but they still trail the top two in the polls.
Penn State and USC Squeak by – The Nittany Lions and Trojans are not great teams this season but both squeaked out covers this past week. Penn State was laying 22 points at home and covered against Kent State as they won 24-0 while USC won 32-21 at Minnesota laying 10.5. That line could have been 11 so it may have been a push depending upon when you bet the game.
Top 25 – It was a great week for the Top 25 as almost all of them covered the point spread. Whenever the top teams cover the number it is a good week for bettors and Week 3 was about as good as it gets. There were not many losers but 7th ranked Oklahoma didn’t cover as they were fortunate just to get past Air Force. The Sooners didn’t come close to covering the spread in a 27-24 win. 11th ranked Wisconsin needed a blocked extra point to win over Arizona State but they were not close to covering the big number.
Late Night Arizona Win – The late game on Saturday night went to Arizona as they blew a big lead against Iowa but recovered to win and cover the NCAA betting spread at Sbg global.
