This Saturday the 28th of November following the USA Thanksgiving Festivities we have a Georgia rivalry game between the 8-3 Bulldogs of Georgia (SEC—East) playing at the 3-8 Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech (ACC-Coastal) with the game being played at the Dodd Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia with the kick-off scheduled for 12:05 PM ET and seen on ESPN2.
The Vegas odds for those that Bet on College football have the Bulldogs of Georgia favored at -5 with the Over/under at 47 ½ and -210 on the Money Line, while the underdog Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech are at +5 and + 175 on the ML.
This past Saturday the Bulldogs received a scare from Georgia Southern as they only won the game 29-17, meanwhile the Yellow Jackets took a big loss against Miami in their road game. Now coming into this game things seem to be equal, as the old fashioned rivalry comes to surface as these 2 teams face of!
The fans of the 8-3 Bulldogs of Georgia watched their team struggle somewhat against the triple-option offense of Georgia Southern that managed some 234 yards rushing and a TD against the Dogs. In the end the Bulldogs found an avenue to win the game 23-17 in precious OT. That all came to be, because the Georgia RB S. Michel’s amassed some 23 carries in the game for a total of 134 yards and the game winning TD in OT.
Their RB Michel should have a good game against the Yellow Jackets as they are allowing opponent RB’s to average 4.8 yards on each carry in 2015. Plus Georgia Tech has allowed some 13 TD’s in 2015 and that includes the 7 they lost in their last 3 game loss streak, and therefore the Bulldogs will take to air with their QB G. Lambert in this game.
QB Lambert has now been real impressive in his passing game as in their ultimate 4 games he has passed for fewer than 200 yards in each of those 4 games. However, this season he did have a big game against the Gamecocks when he completed 24 of 25 of his passes for 3 TD’s and over 330 yards in that game, plus a 2 TD game against Tennessee, so he is instilled with talent, and they hope comes to surface in the state rivalry game.
So if you’re a fan of the 3-8 Yellow Jackets of Georgia Tech, surely you know they were routed by the Hurricanes of Miami 38-21 last Saturday. However if there is a game where they can make a comeback, it’s this game against Georgia, and they always like their chances of seeking a upset after the close call the Bulldogs has with Georgia Southern last week.
Presently the Yellow Jackets in their offensive backfield have a lot of talent that will find holes in the Georgia defense. Their RB M. Marshall is the team leader rushing with 610 yards to date and 4 TD’s. Plus their QB J. Thomas has rushed for 490 yards and has scored the most TD’s for the Yellow Jackets. They also have RB’s C. Lynch with 5 TD’s and P. Skov with 6 TD’s rushing.
In the game against the Hurricanes, RB Lynch rushed for 62 yards and RB Griffin rushed for 69 yards and both had 4 carries in the game against the Hurricanes. Georgia Tech needs to continue its efforts with its running game to eat up clock time and that will limit plays for the Bulldogs. That could also help the Jackets defense that has struggled this season, which ranks 44th in the nations as they have allowed opponents some 365 total yards each game in 2015.
The prediction for this state rivalry game is that the Bulldogs of Georgia have too much talent on both sides of the ball to lose to the Yellow Jackets, thus the Bulldogs win and cover the spread!
