Prior to that Chattanooga had a shot at a field goal of 31 yards but the kick hit the left upright and went astray.
The Mocs had hopes of winning the Southern Conference Title but the Bulldogs win put the title up for grabs as the Mocs finished their conference schedule as the Bulldogs have one conference game left. The Samford QB Summerlin hit WR Cephus with a 92 yard TD pass that put them up 14-0! Trailing the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter 14-0 the Mocs Dothard intercepted a Samford pass returning it for 70 yards and a TD and then with 4:50 left in regulation time the Mocs QB Huesman hit WR Shafaat with a 3 yard TD pass to tie the game. The Alabama Crimson Tide in their last game in which they beat Mississippi State they had to overcome an unusual problem with their team, and that is turnovers in that they lost two of four fumbles in the game. Overcoming that they were able to beat the Bulldogs of Mississippi State 20-7 this last Saturday night in Starkville, Mississippi. Alabama in this game did not look like the number one team in the nation they appeared ordinary, sometimes sloppy and as an uninspired group of players. Having said that, they still found the path to get the victory and by two TD’s.
The Alabama Coach Saban said his team always struggles in Starkville, and gave the Bulldogs credit for having a great game play and for playing very physical and they controlled the line of scrimmage. This was the lowest scoring game for the Tide this Season. Bama should not have a huge problem with their opponent Chattanooga this coming Saturday, but good Luck to the Mocs and the Tide.
