NCAA Football – Mustangs at Horned Frogs-Preview

With the NCAA FB 2015 Regular Season Week # 3 coming our way we chose to preview a couple of teams from the state of Texas, being the Mustangs of Southern Methodist University (SMU) playing at the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University (TCU) with the game being played on Saturday the 19th of September, at the Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas with the kick-off scheduled for 8 PM ET and seen on Fox Sports Network.

For those that Bet on College football at an Online Betting site such as SBG Global who have TCU as the early favorites at -37 ½, and the high odds must be due to the fact that in their opening game they score some 70 as the routed the Stephen F. Austin team. Here we wonder if TCU can get another win in a high scoring game.

If you’re a Mustangs fan of SMU, you must be aware that your team had a come from behind win over North Texas in week 2 as the trailed 10-13, and then they scored 3 TD’s in the 4th quarter to end winning the game 31-13.

You’re SMU QB M. Davis had a great game as he passed for some 172 yards and 2 TD’s and also rushed for 124 yards and 2 TD’s leading his team to the win. Their RB X. Jones carried some 13 times for 95 yards and WR C. Sutton has 66 yards in receptions and 1 TD. With the Horned Frogs having the talent to score both via the rush and air will assist in beating the young defenders who lack experience. But in reality that may be easier said that completed, as TCU has allowed opponents just 252 yards per game this season.

The SMU defense will seek to pressure the SMU QB T. Boykin will help the SMU game plan, since they have 2 capable pass rushers in DL J. Lawler, J. Pratt and A. McCleneghen as all 3 had a sack in the 1st 2 games. The Mustangs of SMU in their ultimate 7 road games they have managed to lose 6 of the 7 games.

If you’re a fan of the Horned Frogs of TCU, you know your team in their last game got off to a slow start, but then exploded with a 70-7 win over S.F. Austin. Their Heisman candidate QB T. Boykin led his team to the win with 4 TD’s and 286 yards passing, all of which took place mostly in the 2nd half of the game.

The TCU offense has 2 great receivers in brought the passing game to the top as K. Listenbee had 6 receptions for 144 yards and 1 TD, while J. Doctson had 4 receptions for some 82 yards. That should interest the SMU offense which has allowed opponents in the 1st 2 games some 552 yards passing for 6 TD’s in those 2 games.

TCU RB’s were also performing well in the last game rushing for a total of 224 yards, with T. Johnson having 9 carries for 71 yards, while C. Christensen, K. Hicks scored 1 TD each and A. Green scored 2 TD’s with all those scored being via the ground game. The Horned Frogs are seeking another big game rushing against the Mustangs, since SMU in their opening game of the season allowed Baylor to gain 305 yards rushing. The Horned Frogs of TCU have won their ultimate 9 games at home, going 9-0 against the spread.

The prediction for this game is that the Horned Frogs will beat the Mustangs of SMU by some 40 points.
