New Mexico Bowl Betting Wyoming vs. Fresno State

New Mexico Bowl betting opens up the college football betting line bowl season on December 19th as Wyoming plays Fresno State in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Cowboys will be making their first bowl trip since 2004 but they are underdogs on the college football betting line against Fresno. New Mexico Bowl betting has Wyoming coming into this game at 6-6 straight up but a very profitable 8-3 against the college football betting line. The Cowboys somehow won six games this season and covered the spread more often than not.

They were near the bottom of the nation in points scored and their defense was nothing special either. What Wyoming did though was win the games they were supposed to.  They didn’t have a signature win all year but in today’s age of televised college football, six wins can get you into a bowl and that will be the case for the Cowboys as they are on the board in New Mexico Bowl betting.  The win against Colorado State was the only one of note for Wyoming this season but it was enough to get them into this New Mexico Bowl betting matchup against Fresno State. The Cowboys are led on offense by quarterback Austyn Cara-Samuels and running back Alvester Alexander.

Fresno State comes into New Mexico betting at 8-4 straight up and 7-4 against the college football betting line.  Fresno was 14th in the country in terms of points scored this season while their defense was well below average. The Bulldogs were great away from home this season and that is a big reason why they are favored in New Mexico Bowl betting.  Fresno State is led by Ryan Matthews who had a great season with 1,664 yards rushing and 17 TDs.  Ryan Colburn had a solid year passing with 2,333 yards and could impact the New Mexico Bowl betting results.

Fresno State and Wyoming have met three times in history but not since 1997. The teams played three consecutive years from 1995-1997.  Wyoming won two of those three games and was also 2-1 against the college football betting line.

Fresno is likely to get much of the attention in New Mexico Bowl betting but the Bulldogs have traditionally been a weak favorite although they have done better this year laying the points going 4-2.  It should also be noted that Wyoming may come into the game with more motivation to prove they are worthy of being in a bowl game.
