New Mexico at Texas A&M SBG Odds Overview
New Mexico head coach Danny Gonzales is in Year Four of trying to make the program successful. However, it’s been tough to create a good online betting base of players. And then when the work was done to develop the talent. In turn, the growing pains were possibly past. Texas A&M has a roster loaded with 5-star recruits. But they have nothing to show for it.
New Mexico Lobos Team Overview
New Mexico must improve an offense that averaged only 3.94 yards per play and failed to score more than 21 points in a Mountain West game in 2022. There was no greater list of offseason priorities for coach Danny Gonzales. The Lobos have a handful of transfers. Including UAB quarterback Dylan Hopkins and a new coordinator, Bryant Vincent, to help jumpstart this anemic group.
At the same time, the defense is also under construction. And it has just two returning starters. Gonzales has a couple of proven defenders returning in the secondary. Namely, Tavian Combs and Donte Martin. But the front and linebacker unit was hit hard by departures.
Still, New Mexico can immediately utilize a few parts to make a difference. The defense needs a total overhaul. But the offense that was beyond miserable is about to get a shot in the arm with two key gets from UAB.
Consider the New Mexico schedule would be a guaranteed winner for just about anyone else. And there are just enough good parts to work around. Strengths are the kicking game, the veteran O line, and a few good defensive playmakers still on campus.
Texas A&M Aggies Team Overview
At the onset of 2022, the Aggies started as a top-10 team. But they slumped to a disappointing 5-7 record as one of the nation’s biggest underachievers. However, hiring former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino to take offensive play-calling duties could jumpstart the program. Specifically, the Aggies have the talent to rebound quickly into the top 25.
Consider that Petrino inherits a rising star at quarterback in Conner Weigman. And he has a trio of receivers that’s as good as any team in the SEC. Five-star freshman Rueben Owens will help fill the void left by Devon Achane at running back. In addition to the overall development by Petrino, the Aggies need the offensive line to improve.
