Oklahoma Sooners Team Overview

Last game, the Oklahoma Sooners lost 35-9 against the South Carolina Gamecocks as 1-point home dogs. The game went over the offshore betting total of 40. Oklahoma has a record of 4-3 straight up, 3-4 against the spread, and 3-4 over/under the total. OU ranks 128th for total offense, 116th for passing, 113th for rushing and 107th for scoring. Defensively they rank 32nd overall, 64th against the pass, 27th against the rush, and 42nd for points allowed. Also, Oklahoma ranks 85th for fewest turnovers lost and 56th for takeaways.

South Carolina is a traditional SEC doormat and a team that nearly upset both LSU and Alabama this year. However, they came into town for the first time with a 1-3 conference record. Yet USC shocked the Sooners and a whited-out crowd of 83,331 at Owen Field. Consider that this was supposed to be the easiest SEC game on a demanding OU schedule. Instead, it was a blaring alarm for the Sooners’ proud football program.

Freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins’ first snap was intercepted, and the Gamecocks quickly made it 7-0. Next, Hawkins fumbled, and USC made it 14-0 on a 36-yard fumble return. Subsequently, Hawkins then threw another interception — to the same South Carolina safety — who ran it back 65 yards for a touchdown. In less than five minutes and nine total offensive snaps, the Sooners were down 21-0.

As a result, that brought on Jackson Arnold, the erstwhile starter who came in and didn’t fare much better. It was Arnold’s fifth game of the season, meaning he’s ineligible to take a redshirt. Now that completely opens the quarterback competition. Head coach Brent Venables has been saying he needed to see Hawkins’ full body of work, but against the Gamecocks, that body was cold and lifeless.

Ole Miss Rebels Team Overview

Last game, the Mississippi Rebels lost 29-26 in overtime against the LSU Tigers as 4-point road favorites. The game went under the total of 64. Ole Miss has a record of 5-2 straight up, 5-2 against the spread, and 1-6 over/under the total. Ole Miss ranks 2nd for total offense, 4th for passing, 26th for rushing and 8th for scoring. Defensively they rank 13th overall, 78th against the pass, 1st against the rush, and 2nd for points allowed. Also, Mississippi ranks 49th for fewest turnovers lost and 45th for takeaways.
