Last Saturday, the Texas A&M Aggies desperately needed a win over the Auburn Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium. However, they could not do so after a disastrous start, falling to Auburn in four overtimes. Indeed, disastrous might be an understatement. Before they knew it, Texas A&M was down 21-0 to the Tigers. They gave up three consecutive scoring drives to the Tigers. And A&M dug themselves a seemingly insurmountable hole.
However, the Aggies didn’t flinch. Midway through the second quarter, they scored a goal to cut into the lead and make it a two-score game at halftime. Next, the Aggies started the second half with the ball and quickly took advantage. A&M scored two straight touchdowns, tying the game in the third quarter. And then Auburn surged back with an answer of its own, taking a 28-21 lead. An Aggies field goal followed that score.
Following that, the Aggie defense stood tall, keeping the Tigers off of the board and putting the game in their offense’s hands. Finally, the game then came down to one final Auburn drive. And the Tigers came through, notching a field goal and sending the game into overtime.
In the first overtime period, the Aggies struck first, with QB Marcel Reed hitting Jahdae Walker to take the 38-31 lead. But the Tigers didn’t wait long to strike back, however. Auburn running back Jarquez Hunter punched it on a short run from the goal line.
