Washington Huskies Reemerge as National Power for 2023

First year Washington Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer put together the nation’s second-best offense. In turn, that offense led to one of the greatest College Football Betting seasons in Washington football history. DeBoer wowed fans and gamblers by winning 11 games. Including the Alamo Bowl. As a result, Washington earned a top-eight finish in both polls. Consider only the 12-0 1991 national champion team and the 2016 12-2 College Football Playoff-bound squad won more games. Yet as great as that season was, it may be seen as a blown chance for greatness.

2023 Washington Huskies Preview

It is true that the 2023 Washington Huskies are good enough to make amends. And Washington can be even better with one of the nation’s most dangerous attacks. Additionally, Washington has a defense that’s about to be stronger and more disruptive on the front six. Although it may not be a Pac-12 Championship or Bust online betting season, Washington is not far off. This program is more than good enough to do big things.

Last year, Washington was one of the most improved teams in the nation. And they return the bulk of that roster to make a run at the Pac-12 title in ’23. Kalen DeBoer’s arrival as a head coach helped to spark a College Football Betting
offense that averaged 39.7 points a game. Namely, U-Dub was led by quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and a standout receiving corps.

The Huskies need to replace three starters along the line. But Penix Jr.’s return should keep this offense near the top of the Pac-12. Improvement on defense is a must if Washington wants to make a run at the CFB Playoff. The front and linebacker unit should be solid. However, DeBoer and staff need to find marked improvement against the pass in 2023.

Following an 11-win season, UW fans should expect similar success from DeBoer’s Huskies in 2023. Although it will be facing a much tougher schedule. Including an early road trip to Michigan State. In addition to facing conference title rivals USC and Utah in back-to-back weeks in November.

Indeed, Washington has enough talent to be considered a favorite to make the Pac-12 Championship Game. And to contend for the College Football Playoff.

In 2020, then-Washington Huskies rookie head coach Jimmy Lake didn’t get much of a debut season. Lake led Washington to three wins in four games and a berth in the Pac-12 championship game. Due to the pandemic, the Huskies had to forego their chance for the title.

For the 2021 season, Lake got his chance to show what he can do over a full schedule. And it was a disaster. Washington finished 4-8, and Lake failed to complete the season. He was fired for a multitude of reasons. In sum, he lost the support of big-money donors and regular fans.

Kalen DeBoer has flipped the script. So too, is excitement building for Washington’s move to the Big Ten Conference in 2023.
