2022 NFL Future Market Not Raven About Baltimore Ravens

Last year was an embarrassing disappointment for the Ravens. The playoffs seemed certain when the Ravens defeated the Cleveland Browns to improve their record to 8-3. Baltimore was in the driver’s seat for the AFC North Division title. At that point, a Super Bowl was very much in play. And then the NFL odds roof caved in. Baltimore lost their final six games of the season to finish 8-9 and out of the playoffs. But the Ravens’ problems go back to 2019 when they were riding high.

A History Of Success as Baltimore’s Second NFL Team

In the beginning, the Baltimore Ravens were born in 1996. That year the original Cleveland Browns decided to move because proposals for a new stadium fell through. As part of the agreement for the move, then-owner Art Modell agreed to leave the Browns name behind in Cleveland. In turn, the name would be available for a future new franchise.

Thus, Baltimore became the Ravens. The new name was in honor of the legendary late local poet Edgar Allan Poe. Poe’s poem “The Raven” was a major part of the inspiration for the Baltimore NFL franchise name.

During their time in Baltimore, the Ravens have been one of the most successful NFL franchises. Since 2000, Baltimore has missed the playoffs only nine times. Baltimore won the Super Bowl in the 2000 and 2012 seasons.

Owner Steve Bisciotti bought into the club as a partner with Modell in 2000. Subsequently, he took over as majority owner in 2004. Bisciotti has run a stable franchise that is a model for the rest of the league. John Harbaugh has been the head coach since 2008. Also, general manager Eric DeCosta has been in the organization since 1996.

From Top Seed to A Second Rate Contender

In 2019, Baltimore romped to a 14-2 record and the top seed in the AFC. Accordingly, quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player. Jackson exploded for a high rate of offshore betting success. He flashed a level of dominance that was unprecedented in the NFL. Additionally, his dual-threat style was said to revolutionize the quarterback position.

Accordingly, the Super Bowl seemed to be a fait accompli as the Ravens hosted the wild card Tennessee Titans. However, Baltimore was rendered helpless in a 14-3 home loss. The Ravens were rendered impotent by the underdog Titans.

Following that disaster, NFL teams studied the game tape all offseason. And the formula was developed on how to neutralize Jackson. He and the Ravens have never been the same. And last year seemed to exacerbate the concern of fans and gamblers.
