2024 Dallas Cowboys on the Brink of Future Market Chances

2024 Dallas Cowboys on the Brink of Future Market Chances

The Dallas Cowboys are known as “America’s Team.” Since 1978, they have carried that moniker and responsibility. And when Dallas won the 1992, 1993, and 1995 world championships, they fit the billing. However, the Cowboys have never returned to the Super Bowl. Dallas remains the most popular and scrutinized NFL Betting Odds franchise. But owner Jerry Jones has run the football side with mixed results. Jones is indeed a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee. But that was based on business acumen rather than football smarts. Coach Jimmy Johnson’s 1994 departure remains a curse.

2024 Dallas Cowboys Preview

Owner Jerry Jones teased Cowboys fans at the start of the sportsbook offseason. To show, he proclaimed that the team would go “all-in” for the 2024 season. Then, the Cowboys did what they have done in free agency every offseason since 2013 — not much.

Linebacker Eric Kendricks and running back Royce Freeman were the only outside free agents signed by the Cowboys before the draft. Dallas changed its modus operandi after making a big NFL football Betting splash in 2012. To show, they signed cornerback Brandon Carr, backup quarterback Kyle Orton, and others. Since then, Dallas became a bit player in free agency, relying on the draft to rebuild and reload.

Since 2013, the Dallas Cowboys have gone 106-73, with six playoff appearances and only two losing seasons. However, they are only 3-6 in the postseason in the past 11 seasons. So, Jones raised fans’ hopes that maybe the Cowboys would do what the Rams did in 2021. They moved their chips to the middle of the table for a Super Bowl run.

Instead, it was more of the same, and no spin or blaming the media by Jones consoled Cowboys fans. They were left frustrated by another one-and-done in the 2023 postseason. It was a 28th season without a trip to the NFC Championship Game, much less the Super Bowl. As a result, fans were left angry by the inaction that followed Jones’ words. Initially, it seems as if the Cowboys have less talent now than they did in their last game. That defeat was a blowout loss to the Packers at home in the wild-card round.

The Cowboys didn’t extend McCarthy’s contract after last season. Consider it was his third consecutive 12-win season. Now, he is on the hottest of hot seats entering 2024. McCarthy will be expected to do more, but with less talent, to get an extension. He might even be under an unspoken mandate to reach the NFC Championship Game.
