In four of the past five seasons, the San Francisco 49ers have been tantalizingly close to a Super Bowl victory. Yet in each of those NFL Betting Odds campaigns, San Francisco has come up empty. Consider that San Francisco has a slew of stars hitting free agency over the next two offseasons. Also, quarterback Brock Purdy is extension-eligible after this season. Thus, the Niners are running out of time with this group. But for 2024, San Francisco is arguably the team to beat in the NFC. They are boasting All-Pros in almost every position room.

2024 San Francisco 49ers Preview
Certainly, the 49ers looked like the best team at times during the 2023 season. San Francisco destroyed several teams that made the playoffs. They were up 10 against the Chiefs in the Super Bowl. But couldn’t hold on to the online wagering lead in the big game once again.
But the good news is that the 49ers are oh-so-close. Last year, they had an NFL-high nine Pro Bowl players. All of the Pro Bowl players are returning in their quest to finally finish and end their 29-season Super Bowl title drought.
The 49ers traded for Jimmy Garoppolo and then used the No. 3 overall selection on Trey Lance. Yet the NFL football Betting solution to the quarterback problem was spending the final pick in the draft on the position.
Namely, Brock Purdy took over for an injured Garoppolo in 2022 and never looked back. At one point during the 2023 season, he was even the MVP frontrunner in the betting markets. Although Purdy didn’t win the award, he led his team to the Super Bowl. He went toe to toe with Patrick Mahomes before ultimately falling in overtime.
Of course, the 49ers offense can’t be discussed without delving into Christian McCaffrey. The All-Pro running back is coming off a terrific 2023 campaign in which he was also one of the MVP frontrunners. However, McCaffrey has a bit of a checkered injury history. So the 49ers will have to hope for more injury luck involving McCaffrey, who had a mostly clean 2023 season.
Ending their title drought won’t be easy.
Only three of the first 56 teams that have lost a Super Bowl have returned to win the next season. Still, with this much talent, there’s reason to believe that Team Heartbreak could be the franchise’s first to hoist the Lombardi Trophy since January 1995.
