Following three years of watching Arthur Smith treat his star offensive players like they were radioactive, Falcon fans demanded change. Atlanta is hoping Raheem Morris has a better plan. Offensively, things will look much different. Consider that the Falcons gave Kirk Cousins a four-year, $180 million deal. Cousins will pair with new coordinator Zac Robinson. Robins arrives with Morris from the Los Angeles Rams. Accordingly, Atlanta has enough NFL odds talent to win the NFC South. And they can be a factor in January. But things must come together quickly for a team with new faces in key places.

2024 Atlanta Falcons Preview
The Atlanta Falcons learned the hard way in 2023 what happens when you don’t get consistent quarterback play on Sundays. Correlate that the Desmond Ridder experiment failed to give Atlanta short-term stability. Or a long-term answer at the position. Hence, his sports betting struggles in part led to the Falcons’ disappointing 7-10 season. Head coach Arthur Smith also was replaced by Raheem Morris. Of course, Morris is a Super Bowl-winning defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams.
At the onset, the offseason NFL betting odds mandate for the Falcons was to find answers at quarterback. In turn, the team signed quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal with $100 million guaranteed in the first two years. Also, Atlanta selected Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Whatever happens with the Falcons going forward will depend heavily on that unorthodox plan. Correlate that the Falcons want to be producing results both now and later. As Penix waits in the wings, Cousins and Raheem Morris will try to get the Falcons back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2017 season.
Now, the Falcons are trying to win with Cousins in the lineup. They may win the NFC South with what they have while getting Penix ready for the future. However, it’ll be vital for the franchise to keep its focus on the present. For Atlanta to contend, it’ll need to mesh Cousins with Zac Robinson’s scheme. Also, the Falcons’ many offensive targets will be meshed in. Meanwhile, Atlanta must maximize a defense that has plenty of depth but only a few star-caliber players. Making it to January football is a very realistic goal for this Falcons team. However, making waves in the playoffs is another story altogether.
