Chargers and Raiders Kickoff NFL Week 15 in Grand Fashion

Sixty-three years ago, the upstart American Football League was born. Included as original charter franchises were the Chargers and Raiders. In fact, they have shared the same division since the first day the AFL opened for business. Both teams have histories of NFL betting odds glory. The problem is that many of their younger fans don’t remember and can’t relate. Now, the Chargers and Raiders are great teases. They are good enough to contend for and sometimes make the playoffs. But Los Angeles and Las Vegas have failed to measure up as bona fide Super Bowl hopefuls.

Indeed the Las Vegas Raiders were a real mess in 2022. In 2021, Rich Bisaccia took over for the fired Jon Gruden in midseason. Gruden went from full command to being embarrassed by the league in an email scandal. Hence, the Raiders were forced to let Chucky go to appease the Politically Correct Twitter mobs and their cancel culture. Bisaccia led the Raiders to the AFC Playoffs in a tumultuous and difficult situation.

But that playoff berth wasn’t good enough for Raiders owner Mark Davis, the son of the late great Al Davis. It is true that Mark is not a chip off the old block. Instead, he is more like Fredo Corleone inheriting an NFL team from his Godfather. Davis decided to replace Bisaccia with Josh McDaniels. The McHoodie is best known as Tom Brady’s offensive coordinator at New England.

Previously, like almost all of Bill Belichick’s assistants, the McHoodie flopped miserably with the Denver Broncos. But after over ten years of penance and riding Brady’s coattails, McDaniels got another shot. And he promptly took Bisaccia’s playoff team a turned it into a 6-11 loser.

Meanwhile, Chargers coach Brandon Staley went from the witness protection program into the soup. Last January, the Chargers blew a 27-0 lead in a playoff loss at the Jacksonville Jaguars. And Staley lost the respect of fans, gamblers, and some players for the debacle.

Accordingly, Week 15 opens with the Raiders hosting the Chargers in Sin City on Amazon Prime.
