There may not be a team that needs to have a good start in 2010 NFL preseason odds more than the Chicago Bears. The Bears are coming off a disappointing season a year ago but there is renewed optimism since the Bears have a new offensive coordinator in Mike Martz. The Bears will get a good early test in 2010 NFL preseason betting as they open up at San Diego on August 14th. 2010 NFL preseason odds on the Bears to win the Super Bowl have them as 35-1 long shots. The Bears are given a reasonable chance in the NFC North though as they are 4.5 to 1 to win the division. The Bears made some nice off-season moves that should help them contend in the NFC North this season and in 2010 NFL preseason betting. They picked up running back Chester Taylor from Minnesota and they added defensive end Julius Peppers from Carolina. The biggest addition though is probably Martz. He is expected to turn the Chicago offense into a productive one. Getting quarterback Jay Cutler on track is the first priority. He threw 27 TDs but threw 26 interceptions. Late in the season wide receiver Devin Aromashodu looked good and now the Bears have Taylor who can catch the ball out of the backfield.
The Chicago defense was not very good last season but it should be better with the addition of Peppers and with Brian Urlacher back from injury. If Peppers decides to play and Urlacher returns to Pro Bowl form, the Bears defense should be vastly improved. Getting pressure on the opposing quarterback should help the secondary which gave up way too many big plays a year ago. Chicago Bears has a very good kicker in Robbie Gould but Brad Maynard is not a good punter.
Chicago opens up the regular season with Detroit but then they have a tough stretch where they play Dallas, Green Bay, the New York Giants and the Carolina Panthers. Late in the season the Bears also have a brutal stretch where they face New England, Minnesota, the Jets and Green Bay.
The Bears have the potential to be a lot better in 2010 but only if Martz gets the offense to come together. If Cutler can avoid mistakes then Chicago might be able to give Green Bay and Minnesota a run for the NFC North title.
