Once upon a time, the Cincinnati Bengals were a perennial Super Bowl contender. They were touted as a team that could contend for Super Sunday this season. Instead, the Bengals are fighting to save their season. Cincinnati is one of the biggest disappointments on the NFL betting odds board. Much of that can be attributed to the play of QB Joe Burrow. Consider that many experts and commentators believe Burrow is not fully recovered from his injuries last year. On Sunday Night, NBC is not getting what it paid for when the Giants host the Bengals.

Cincinnati Bengals Team Overview

Last game, the Cincinnati Bengals lost 41-38 against the Baltimore Ravens as 2.5-point home dogs. The game went over the online wagering total of 48.5. Cincinnati has a record of 1-4 straight up, 2-3 against the spread, and 4-1 over/under the total. Cincinnati ranks 9th for total offense, 5th for passing, 28th for rushing, and 5th for scoring. Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow traded touchdown throws all afternoon. It took a big run and a chip-shot kick in overtime to settle a wild game. Following Derrick Henry’s 51-yard run to put the Ravens at the Bengals 6, Justin Tucker kicked a 24-yard game-winner. Previously, Tucker kicked a 56-yarder with 1:35 left in regulation to tie a game that featured more than 700 yards passing and nine touchdown passes.

Tucker’s winning field goal came after Evan McPherson missed a 53-yard attempt for Cincinnati after a fumbled snap. In turn, that gave Baltimore the ball at its own 43. Next, Henry had his big run for the Ravens. The Bengals led by 10 points three times in the second half, but Jackson brought the Ravens back each time. Burrow’s screen pass to Ja’Marr Chase turned into a 70-yard touchdown romp that gave the Bengals a 38-28 lead with 8:54 left.

But the Ravens answered with an 11-play, 70-yard drive. Accordingly, Baltimore got an improbable 6-yard TD pass to Isaiah Lively by Jackson. Jackson dropped and picked up the shotgun snap before scrambling and stiff-arming Bengals defensive end Sam Hubbard before letting go with the pass.

Burrow finished 30 of 39 for 392 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. Including two each to Chase and Tee Higgins. Chase led the Bengals with ten catches for 193 yards, and Higgins had nine grabs for 83 yards.
