This past Sunday night, Dec. 14th 2014 of NFL Week 15 the now 10-4 Dallas Cowboys (1st NFC East) had to rally to beat the now 9-5 Eagles (2nd NFC East) after they blew at 21-0 as by the end of the third quarter they were ahead 28-24, then scored 10 fourth quarter points as the Eagles only manage 3 more points in the game, thus the final score was Dallas 38, Philadelphia 27.
The scoring in the game started with the Cowboys scoring 14 points in the 1st quarter, while the Eagles went scoreless. In the 2nd Dallas scored 7 points, while the Eagles scored 10, so the game went to half-time Dallas 21- Eagles 10. Dallas scored 7 points in the 3rd, while the Eagles scored 14. In the 4th and final quarter the Cowboys scored 10 points to the Eagles 3 points.
Statistically the Cowboys were up on the Eagles, as the Cowboys had 26-1st downs on 76 plays for 364 total yards, with 249 passing yards and 115 rushing yards with 1 turnover, while possessing the ball for an incredible 41:55 minutes of the game. The Eagles, prior to this loss, were the leaders of the NFC East, apart from the fact that they were leading the NFL in turnovers. In this game the turnovers came back to haunt them, as the turnovers played a major role in this 38-27 loss to Dallas. Thus, the Eagles gave up their lead in the NFC East and now need help in making the playoffs. The Eagle stumbled throughout the game, and then finally scored some 24 points to take a 24-21 leads with a little more than 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
But the Eagles lead was short lived, as Dallas came back with a offensive drive of 8 plays and a 78 yard TD run by RB Murray, which was his 2nd TD run of the game, and brought on a 4th quarter that most expected a thrilling final quarter of the game, but the Eagles ran out of gas as their QB Sanchez was intercepted by Dallas Safety Wilcox, then Dallas QB Romo completed a 25 yard pass for a TD to receiver Bryant which game the Cowboys the lead at 35-24. Then Eagles QB Sanchez threw another interception, which ended any possibility of the Eagles rallying to a win.
