Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Giants NFL Week 4 Betting Lines & Picks (09-26-2024)

It is getting late early for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. At the onset of the season, both teams are 1-2 and struggling with the NFL odds. Two years ago, Giants head coach Brian Daboll was a coaching hero for taking the Giants to a playoff win. And his quarterback, Daniel Jones, was considered to have finally arrived. Since that epic 2022 season, the Giants, Daboll, and Jones have fallen. Meanwhile, the Cowboys continue to get all the hype but inadequate results. Owner Jerry Jones is getting worse in his final push for a Super Bowl.

Dallas Cowboys Team Overview

Last game, the Dallas Cowboys lost 28-25 against the Baltimore Ravens as 1-point home dos. The game went over the total of 47.5. Dallas has a record of 1-2 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 3-0 over/under the sports betting total. Dallas ranks 9th for total offense, 1st for passing, 29th for rushing, and 5th for scoring. Defensively they rank 29th overall, 14th against the pass, 32nd against the rush, and 30th for points allowed. Also, Dallas ranks 11th for fewest turnovers lost and 6th for takeaways.

The Ravens scored touchdowns on their first two drives and led 28-6. Subsequently, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys rallied big late. Following help from a rare onside kick recovery. Of major concern is that the Cowboys have allowed 120 points in their past three home games. Including a 48-32 wild-card loss to Green Bay in January that ended Dallas’ 16-game winning streak at AT&T Stadium.

Brandon Aubrey kicked a 65-yard field goal for the Cowboys. Specifically, that was one yard shy of the NFL record from 2021 held by the kicker on the other sideline, Baltimore’s Justin Tucker. In like manner to last week’s 44-19 loss to New Orleans, the Cowboys needed more than field goals because of their porous defense. Finally, the touchdowns eventually came for Dallas. They were just a little late.

Prescott scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak midway through the fourth. Next, CJ Griffin recovered the onside kick. And then Jalen Tolbert had a 15-yard TD catch to make it 28-18. Next, the Cowboys missed on a second consecutive 2-point conversion try. The late Dallas surge put Prescott at 28 of 51 for 379 yards and two touchdowns. However, Dallas didn’t have any help from an anemic running game. Dallas averaged 3.2 yards per carry.

New York Giants Team Overview

Last game, the New York Giants won 21-15 against the Cleveland Browns as 6.5-point road dogs. The game went under the total of 38. New York has a record of 1-2 straight up, 1-2 against the spread, and 0-3 over/under the total. New York ranks 22nd for total offense, 19th for passing, 19th for rushing, and 29th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 15th overall, 13th against the pass, 23rd against the rush, and 20th for points allowed. Also, New York ranks 25th for fewest turnovers lost and 22nd for takeaways.

Malik Nabers caught two touchdown passes from Daniel Jones. And he made a sensational grab over a defender down the sideline. Also, he broke up a potential interception as New York held off the Cleveland Browns. Jones and Nabers connected twice in the first half as the Giants built a 21-7 lead before holding on for dear life. Jones completed 24 of 34 passes for 236 yards as New York shook off a loss at Washington that prompted a week of criticism.

Despite losing three offensive linemen to injuries, Deshaun Watson rallied the Browns. Cleveland had three chances to take the lead in the fourth quarter. But the Giants recovered a fumble and stopped the Browns twice on downs. Certainly, the Giants were hardly perfect. They fumbled the opening kickoff and fell behind 7-0 in the first 11 seconds. While newly signed kicker Greg Joseph missed 48-yard field goal that could have helped ice the game.
