The New York Giants may be, on paper, the favorite to beat the Detroit Lions, but fans who bet on NFL games online might, after comparing week 1 performances, beg to differ. This will be Detroit Lions rookie receiver Kenny Golladay’s first-ever Monday Night game, and the Northern Illinois product is ready for the spotlight. “It should be fun,” he said via the team’s official website. “Pretty much everybody will be watching. I think we’re the only game on (they are). It’ll be exciting. A lot of fun.”

Good Golly-day
The third round pick had four catches, two of which were touchdown passes from starting quarterback Matthew Stafford, for 69 yards in his professional debut against the Arizona Cardinals. Stafford finished, despite a slow start against the Cards, 29-for-41 for 292 yards and four touchdowns.
On defense, Carlos Monarrez of the Detroit Free Press has picked second-year defensive end as the Lions’ breakout defensive player of the year based on his performance against Arizona, which included the team’s only sack. “I feel like I played well,” Zettel said. “I’ve got a lot to improve on. I missed that sack there, and then there was a couple of close pressures that I feel like I could have got.” Detroit has, all things considered, yet to kick-start the running game, and the Giants offense has been and continues to be one of the top in the league, allowing the Cowboys, even in defeat, just 19 points. However, and given that the spread is just three points, the Lions could, if they sustain the momentum, not just cover the spread – which they have done in five of their last seven games versus NFC East teams as well as in four of their last five visits to the Giants – but possibly even pull the upset, so fans who bet on NFL games online should keep that in mind.
Dancing on the Giants’ grave?
Giants starting QB Eli Manning – who went 29-for-39 for 220 yards – had, without preferred target Odell Beckham in sight, pretty much nowhere to throw the ball, and with the running game posting a risible 35 yards, the team’s offensive output was reduced to a field goal in Sunday’s loss to Dallas. Fortunately for the Big Blue Boys, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that optimism regarding the wide receiver’s participation on Monday against the Lions is riding high.

Well, if Beckham is healthy enough to engage in a dance-off with Russell Westbrook, he should be healthy enough to play football as well. One thing, though, seems to be certain, and it’s that, with or without Beckham, people who bet on NFL games online probably shouldn’t entertain the prospect of the total going over. The Giants currently hold, at seven straight, the longest active streak of minus 20-point games. The total has gone under in eight of the Giants’ last 10 games, as well as in nine of the Lions’ last 12.
