Football Betting – New Orleans at Carolina

The defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints are almost a touchdown favorite in football betting on Sunday at Carolina. The Saints got back on track last week with a win over Pittsburgh while the Panthers continued to look terrible.  The Saints are 6.5 point favorites in NFL football betting at Sbgglobal with the total on the game at 41.

Hard to Like Carolina
It is hard to like Carolina in this game. They have just one win on the season and that was against the rotten 49ers.  The Panthers are not even getting a full touchdown at home.  Head coach John Fox is not going to be around next season and this team has pretty much mailed it in.  They have no real offensive threats and their defense is nothing special.  Sounds pretty bad doesn’t it?

New Orleans Offense
The Saints still are not clicking on all cylinders on offense and that is the only reason why this game might be close.  The Saints did beat Pittsburgh last week but their offense was a hit and miss.  Drew Brees is not having the type of season he had a year ago and the Saints have no running game at all with Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush out.  The Panthers defense is not horrible so the Saints could struggle to score in this game.

Carolina Offense
The Panthers have no offense. Quarterback Matt Moore has not played well. The running game with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart has been invisible and even getting Steve Smith back has not helped that much.

Trap Game
This game looks way too easy. The Panthers should have no chance to beat the Saints in this game.  Somehow they will probably find a way to stay close.  The Panthers are 11-6 against the Saints with John Fox as head coach.  The Panthers might find a way to surprise everyone in this contest.  It should be low scoring as the Panthers are the lowest scoring team in the NFL. These teams met in New Orleans in early October and the Saints just barely came away with the 16-14 win. It should be noted that the Saints are 4-10 in football betting in their last 14 games as a favorite. They are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games.  And keep in mind that the Panthers are 6-1 against the NFL football betting line in their last 7 vs. the NFC South.
