Football Betting – Steelers at Saints on NBC

An excellent football betting matchup is on tap for Sunday night on NBC as the last two Super Bowl champs meet in New Orleans as the Saints host the Pittsburgh Steelers. This is expected to be a very competitive game in NFL football betting as the odds are a pick at SBG with the total at 44.

Will the Real Saints Stand Up?
If the Saints are to break out of their malaise then it should be this week against the Steelers.  New Orleans lost at home last week to the Cleveland Browns.  It is still hard to believe but this year’s Saints are simply not the same team they were a year ago.  Drew Brees has made more mistakes this season than he made all of last year. The Saints are simply not a great offensive team without running backs Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas. Bush is expected to try and play in this game after missing much of the season.

Pittsburgh 5-1
The Steelers are one of only three teams in the NFL with a single loss.  Many people believe they are the best team in the league this season.  The Steelers won with defense for the first four games and in the last two they have won with defense and with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.  Pittsburgh can simply beat teams on both sides of the ball.  The Steelers were fortunate last week to win at Miami but good teams find ways to win and that is what Pittsburgh is doing this season.

Pittsburgh Trends
The Steelers have won 3 of the past 4 vs. the Saints since 1990. The Steelers are 10-4 record vs. NFC teams under head coach Mike Tomlin.  Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is 18-5 in his career against NFC teams. The Steelers are 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The Steelers are 27-13-1 ATS in their last 41 games in October.

New Orleans Trends
Saints quarterback Drew Brees has won eight of his last nine career starts against AFC teams. The Saints are 1-4 in football betting in their last 5 home games. The Saints are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall

Total Trends – The Over is 5-2 in NFL football betting in the Steelers last 7 road games. The Over is 18-8-1 in the Saints last 27 home games.
