You don’t see many trades made in the preseason and rarely do they mean much vs. the football odds but the one that Minnesota made with Miami could have an impact.
The Vikings will be without starting wide receiver Sidney Rice for about half the season due to injury and they needed to do something. They made a trade on Wednesday that could help them have more success vs. the NFL betting lines as they got wide receiver Greg Camarillo from the Dolphins for cornerback Benny Sapp.Football odds favor the Vikings as they host Seattle on Saturday in preseason action. It is possible that Camarillo will get right into the starting lineup and work with quarterback Brett Favre. Camarillo could be a really good addition for the Vikings.
Good Move for Minnesota: The Vikings really made a nice move by getting Camarillo. With Rice being out and the migraine problems of Percy Harvin, the Vikings needed a solid receiving option. And no, Javon Walker who they recently added was not the answer.
Camarillo has caught 105 passes over the last two seasons for Miami. He was the favorite receiver of Chad Pennington a couple of years ago. He was hurt last season but still had 55 catches for 613 yards in the first 12 games before getting injured.
Dolphins get Sapp: The Dolphins give up a good wide receiver and get an average defensive back. Sapp started seven regular-season games and both playoff games for the Vikings last season but he was not a good enough replacement for the injured Antoine Winfield.
Now that Winfield is back and healthy, Sapp would have been a nickel back in the Minnesota secondary. He had 55 tackles and seven passes defended last season with the Vikings and forced two fumbles. He did not have any interceptions.
Impact: Trades in the preseason are not normally important when it comes to NFL betting lines at Sbg global but this one really is. The Vikings needed someone to replace Rice at receiver.
While Camarillo won’t be as explosive as Rice he will give Favre an excellent and reliable target to throw to which is exactly what he needs. Look for Camarillo to have a big impact for the Vikings this season.
