Football Betting – Jets Hype Continues as they are Favored at Carolina on Saturday

The New York Jets are favored in football betting this week as they play at Carolina in preseason action. Normally in NFL football betting the home team is favored in the preseason but this is the Jets we are talking about so of course they are favored.Football betting odds list New York as a 1.5 point favorite at Carolina.  The Jets are really favored simply because of hype.  The Jets are playing on a short week after playing Monday night but the public is in love with them so the odds makers favor them on the road.

Jets Overvalued this Week:  The Jets should not be favored in this game if you look at the NFL football betting situation.  They played Monday night, and played their starters for almost a half and still lost to the Giants.  The starters for the Jets are not going to play nearly as long this week for New York and the backups proved last week they are not very good.  And the Panthers are at home and they are not a bad team.

Panthers:  The Panthers have a new quarterback this season in Matt Moore but they still have a great running game with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart.  Carolina head coach John Fox has said that he is looking for a better effort and more offense this week after the offensive line allowed seven sacks against Baltimore and had a bunch of penalties last week. The Jets have a great defense but again, many of the starters are not going to play as much this week.

First Half:  you might want to take a shot with the Panthers in the first half too.  The Panthers are really going to want to do well against the Jets starters and then in the second quarter they should have the edge against New York’s backups.  The second half might be a little dicey since Carolina’s backup quarterbacks are rookie Jimmy Clausen and Hunter Cantwell.  Clausen has looked good though so the Panthers may win the second half too.  The Panthers are definitely worth a serious look both in the first half and for the game this week against a tired New York team that played Monday night.
