Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs NFL Betting Lines & Picks (01/18/2025)

Since the Super Bowl era began in 1966, there has never been a three-peat winner. And the last time there was a three-peat NFL champion was the 1965-66-67 Green Bay Packers, who won the first two Super Bowls. At the onset of the divisional playoffs, the Kansas City Chiefs can become the first team to beat what has been impossible NFL Odds. Of course, the Chiefs dynasty began in 2019 when they rallied from a 24-0 deficit to blast apart the Texans 51-31 in the playoffs. Following that terrifying result, things have never been the same for either team.

Houston Texans Team Overview

Last game, the Houston Texans beat the Los Angeles Chargers 32-12 in the wild-card round as 2.5-point home dogs. The game went over the sportsbook total of 42. Houston has a record of 10-7 straight up, 7-8-2 against the spread, and 6-10-1 over/under the total. Houston ranks 22nd for total offense, 21st for passing, 15th for rushing, and 19th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 6th overall, 6th against the pass, 11th against the rush, and 14th for points allowed. Also, Houston ranks 13th for fewest turnovers lost and 2nd for takeaways.

Following a 6-0 LA lead in the first quarter, the Texans would put up 23 unanswered on their way to a blowout victory. Quarterback Justin Herbert had the worst game of his season at the worst possible time. Herbert’s four interceptions helped decide this one. Certainly, Herbert’s performance was bad, and his offensive line could take some of the blame. It seemed like every time Herbert went back to pass, a defender was in his mug. The Chargers allowed four sacks.

Previously, Herbert threw three interceptions throughout 17 games this year. But Houston’s combination of an excellent pass rush and hyper-aggressive play from the secondary led to the 26-year-olds’ worst performance of the season. Cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. ended the game with two interceptions. While defensive linemen Will Anderson Jr. and Mario Edwards Jr. had three of the team’s four sacks on Herbert.

In addition to shutting down the Chargers’ aerial attack, the Texans’ defense held Los Angeles to a staggering 50 rushing yards. At the same time, the special teams managed to score off a wild PAT block in the fourth quarter.

Kansas City Chiefs Team Overview

Last game, the Kansas City Chiefs lost 38-0 against the Denver Broncos as 11.5-point road dogs. The game went under the total of 40.5. Kansas City has a record of 15-2 straight up, 8-9 against the spread, and 7-10 over/under the total. Kansas City ranks 16th for total offense, 14th for passing, 22nd for rushing, and 15th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 9th overall, 18th against the pass, 8th against the rush, and 4th for points allowed. Also, Kansas City ranks 5th for fewest turnovers lost and 16th for takeaways.

Kansas City’s loss at Denver is not to be taken seriously. Cause by having clinched the top seed and first-round bye in the AFC Playoffs. Kansas City’s top players did not play.
