Jet and Browns Kickoff NFL Week 17 Schedule

Jet and Browns Kickoff NFL Week 17 Schedule

Last season in its maiden voyage, Amazon Prime proved to be an NFL betting odds success. In fact, ratings and production exceeded expectations for the streaming service. However, after a good start, the quality of games on the schedule was terrible. Since Amazon is paying huge money with ratings that are better than expected, the NFL must deliver more appealing matchups. In Week 17, The League delivers a matchup that could have playoff implications. The Cleveland Browns host the New York Jets.

Last year the Browns mortgaged their future for former Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson. That was the Watson that had countless sexual harassment allegations hurled at him. Although the NFL suspended Watson for most of the online wagering season, Browns owner Jimmy Haslem couldn’t resist touching the red paint. Houston took in a boatload of picks and prospects, while the Browns got a discredited QB.

Last season, Watson started six games and compiled a lower QB rating than Jacoby Brissett. Brissett filled in for Watson’s suspension. In 2020, the Browns seemed to have turned the Pro football betting odds corner with a run to the AFC Divisional Playoff. But Jimmy Haslam doesn’t rival Daniel Snyder for being the NFL’s worst owner for nothing. And he has been working his black magic since that season of hope three years ago.

Of course, the New York Jets will know if the Aaron Rodgers experiment is paying off when this game is played. Rodgers did not arrive at the Big Apple on the cheap. And it was a risky move by the Jets. Rodgers is no longer in his prime. And he produced only one Super Bowl appearance in Green Bay’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in February 2011. So if that is all Rodgers can do with a first-class organization, why will he do better with the dysfunctional Jets?

Also, ABC gets a prime-time game of NFC playoff contenders on Saturday night. The Dallas Cowboys will host the Detroit Lions on a date that serves as a trade for an idle Monday Night in Week 17. Since the Lions and Cowboys is a conference game, the playoff implications could be massive and count for two games instead of one.
