At the onset, the Lions will be tested as they head to Arrowhead Stadium for the Thursday night sportsbook kickoff game. Detroit will face the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs. Detroit fans will get their first glimpse of the home team in Week 2 versus the Seattle Seahawks.

Of course, the Lions will host their annual Thanksgiving Day game on Nov. 23. But this year, it’s against the Green Bay Packers. The date marks the teams’ second season matchup following their “Thursday Night Football” clash at Lambeau Field for Week 5. Detroit’s bye comes on Nov. 5.

And then, over the past 10 NFL seasons, the Lions played the second-fewest prime-time games (16) in the NFL. 2023 Detroit Lions Offseason Moves

Namely, Brian Branch primarily played nickel back in his time at Alabama. Following the trade of Jeffrey Okudah, that role in Detroit is his for the taking. This would allow Emmanuel Moseley to stick outside. Also, this provides Detroit with a versatile group of defensive backs between Branch, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and Kerby Joseph.
