Build them up just to tear them down
Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller said, via Chargers.com, that “this Chargers team is probably the most talented Chargers team that I’ve played against in my time in the league.” Miller added that Phillip Rivers is, among quarterbacks, his favorite to go against. He didn’t say, but probably thought, that getting sacked at least 36 times in each of the last three seasons, is what, about Rivers, he likes the most. The Bolts, in addition to being, in Miller’s estimation, the best, are also the healthiest they’ve been in a long time. But unless the offensive line protects River, an Iron Man though he is, better, the Chargers will have a tough time staying within the three-point spread – speaking of which, if the Bolts had a dime for every time they have covered the NFL betting spread in their last five games, they would have… zero dimes! Though, in the interest of fairness, the Chargers are, in their last seven visits to Denver, 5-2 ATS, and 10-4 ATS in its last 14 games road games.
The Wolfe is at your door
Miller is not, of the Broncos players, the only one, there being also defensive end Derek Wolfe, who gets a kick out of playing against Rivers – who is known for his four letter word-free thrash talking. “I don’t even know what he says,” Wolfe said per the Denver Post. “It doesn’t make any sense.” So Rivers is, who would have thought it, just like the Taunting French Guard.
“I just want to put Philip Rivers on the ground,” Wolfe finished. “That’s all I’m thinking about.” As for the Broncos starting quarterback, Trevor Siemian had some big shoes, Peyton Manning’s, to fill last season and, sadly, the way he played, he couldn’t have even filled Eli’s. the Broncos have are, at Sports Authority Field, 5-1 SU in their last five games with the Chargers, but only, ATS-wise, 3-8-3 in their last 14 times hosting the Bolts. The total has, in six of the last eight meetings between Chargers and Broncos, gone over. However, between Rivers tendency to get sacked and the Broncos harmless offense, one could reasonably believe that the NFL betting total will, this time, go under.
