The Miami Dolphins are one of the dark horse candidates in NFL preseason odds to win the Super Bowl. They are 23.5 to 1 in Super Bowl odds and they are 4-1 to win a tough AFC East. The Dolphins open up the preseason at home on August 14th as NFL preseason betting favorites against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. NFL preseason odds will likely list Miami as underdogs in Week 2 against Jacksonville while they should be favored in Week 3 at home against Atlanta. The final preseason game is at Dallas and they will likely be road underdogs in that game.
The Dolphins surprised everyone two years ago in NFL preseason odds but last year they slipped back. Miami Dolphins still has a lot of talent and could rebound this season in the AFC East. It is not an easy division though with New York and New England. The Dolphins win by running the ball and stopping the run. This year they will look to throw it a little more as they acquired top receiver Brandon Marshall from Denver. If quarterback Chad Henne continues to improve then the Miami offense could be potent. The Dolphins have a very good running back combination in Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
The defense has been turned over to Mike Nolan who comes over from Denver. He will look to turn Miami into more of an attacking defense. Miami has some excellent linebackers in Channing Crowder and newcomer Karlos Dansby who they got from Arizona. The secondary is solid with Will Allen, Vontae Davis and Yeremiah Bell. The Dolphins have a very good kicker in Dan Carpenter who missed only three field goals all season.
The Dolphins are very capable of winning the AFC East even though the Jets and Patriots will get more attention in NFL preseason betting. The key for Miami in 2010 will be surviving the early part of the season. They have a very tough slate. They simply have to win their opener at Buffalo. After that game they go to Minnesota and then host the Jets and Patriots. They get a bye week and then go to Green Bay, host the Steelers and then travel to Cincinnati and Baltimore. Other than the opening game at Buffalo, there is not an easy game in the first half of the season for the Dolphins.
