Minnesota Vikings Superbowl Betting

November 11th, 2022 NFL Football Betting Online Odds

Superbowl betting lists the Minnesota Vikings as the third choice in Superbowl odds behind the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. The Vikings are a dangerous team though in Superbowl betting as they have the most balanced squad of the four remaining teams.Superbowl betting has the Vikings at 4-1 in Superbowl odds. Minnesota is a four-point underdog in Sunday in the NFC Championship game against New Orleans.  The Vikings have a Hall of Fame quarterback in Brett Favre though and he is very familiar with the Superdome, having grown up just 60 miles away.  The challenge for Minnesota this week in Superbowl odds will be to win on the road.

The Vikings won every game they played at home this season but they were just 4-4 on the road. What helps Minnesota in their chances of advancing in Superbowl betting is that New Orleans does not have a top defense.  The Saints can be scored upon.  New Orleans was 21st in the NFL against the run so this could be the week that Adrian Peterson explodes.  Peterson was the best in the NFL in 2008 but this season he was not quite as good and had just three games in which he went over 100 yards. He will be a huge key on Sunday to open things up for Favre and the passing attack. “I’m not surprised about where we are or the fact that we’re playing in the championship game,” Favre said “I’m probably most surprised about how we’ve had to win some of the games and how we’ve gotten to this point.

Minnesota has another edge in Superbowl betting and that is their defense. The Vikings have the second best defense of the remaining four teams in Superbowl odds. The Jets were #1 in the NFL this season.  Minnesota was #6 in total yards allowed this season.  That number is far better than the defenses of the Saints or Colts.  And Minnesota’s offense was not too bad either as they were just behind the Saints in terms of points scored.  The Vikings have balance and that may be the reason they win in Superbowl betting.

Minnesota played at New Orleans last season and won a high scoring game 30-27.  Reggie Bush returned two punts for touchdowns in that game so expect Minnesota to kick away from him on Sunday. The Saints were the best team in the NFC this season while the Vikings were the second best team and that is why the Saints are favored in Superbowl betting against Minnesota.
